Oh wow look, a new post!
Well, I've had tennis practice and tryouts this week. They didn't have to cut anyone :). But today we had our essay to write in English class. I think that I did really well. We had 90 min. to complete the essay and everyone was working really hard until after lunch. Then it got a little noisy for me to concentrate so I moved to the hall. I finished just in the nick of time. People were singing to the music and talking. Mrs. Barry is a really nice teacher but Mrs. Mammen is still my favorite! :)

Yay! Isn't that exciting? A new post! Mrs. Mammen, I'm reading the Subtle Knife now, and I'm now finding it quite interesting! If I could just bring myself to get through The Fellowship of the Ring! With the huge, boring opening, and all the Tom Bombadil stuff, It'll take a while!

I would love to know what your writing prompts were--how did you select the one you wrote about?

I spent most of this past week in Missouri because Derius's father passed away last Friday. I feel especially out of the loop--my students had a sub as many days as they had me so far this year!

Max, you need to plow your way through the exposition of Fellowship--the novel is so worth the trouble! I am glad that you are enjoying The Subtle Knife. How many attempts did it take you to continue into the novel? I gave up at least three times at the same spot (in the abandoned Italianesque village) before I forced my way further into the story. I love The Golden Compass best, but THe Amber Spyglass is very good, too. A little shocking, but interesting. You need to absorb the Subtle Knife to appreciate the arc of the story.

How are you Power of Eleven divided up this year? Surely some of you are clustered into the same hours.

Well, Halie and Max and I are all in Mrs. Hill's 6th hour. We did the essay this last Tuesday instead of Friday though. I finished just as the bell rang. I hope I did good :)

Hey Mrs. Mammen, guess who in TIME for the Sept. issue? The author of the Twilight books. I saw the title name and I thought of you! She is just answering questions, but she's there. I think that might be the next series I read :).

I am head-over-heels about the Twilight series--I hope you enjoy it, also. Thanks for the tip about TIme magazine. I'll have to go buy a copy!

THe movie Twilight was originally scheduled for Dec. 12, but because Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince has been pushed back until summer 2009, Twilight is being released much earlier. It might be opening as early as late October. Definitely read the book before you go to the movie!

I'm on my second try through The Subtle Knife, and my fifth through Fellowship. Lindsay, Nathan is also in Mrs. Hill's.

Speaking of the Harry Potter movies, they're cutting the 7th into two parts (my dad only goes to see how much they left out from the book).

Carolyn, Rachel, and I have a tennis meet on Tuesday in McPherson. They are playing doubles together and I'm playing with a girl from Valley Center. It could be kind of strange but I'll get through it.
Right now I'm watching "The Sound of Music." It's great. :)

Ha! I didn't think I had that bad of a memory... Anyways, Halie, I must agree with you. Tionna's outfit was pretty sexy :P I wish I had one just like it!

Hey, thanks guys! You all know that the Central band looks sooooooo fantabulous in our EXTRA HOTT bands uniforms. Just to put it out there, Max and Carolyn also are in the band. Carolyn ordered a size five band shoe and her feet are so small. They looked like little doll feet. No offense Carolyn. Max, however, looked very professional in his band uniform. Like he was born in one. :D But thanks for coming to suport us. We will be playing on this Friday as well.

I am loving the fact that you guys are still using the blog!! Do you have some suggestions for changing it? I can allow someone else to become the administrator, and then you could change the look, invite other people, etc.

What do you think?

Congratulations on the book notes--Max for finishing The Subtle Knife, and Gabe for considering Twilight...

I miss you guys...

I'm already well into the Amber Spyglass now, too, Mrs. Mammen! It's got some truly €Uber€ conceptual stuff!

Max, last time I saw you in the band you were sitting by this chick I know. Her name is Danny Morris... I'm not fersure if that's her last name but I'm pretty sure it is. But yeah, Tionna, I think that Halie and I will be seeing you tomarrow then, because we plan on going to the game :D I hope we can see you there! No doubt we probablly will :D

I'm looking forward to it, too! My sister and grandmother are coming into town to see me march and Tierra dance. Pretty exciting. But my mom and I are sewing a blanket kit I got like 5 years ago with her new machine. It embroders and sews. It is Hello Kitty :).
