We missed you and Max!
Since we were unable to get show tickets to spend the evening at Grease, we went to the mall and ate dinner at Carlos O'Kelly's. We went to the movie "The Mummy", then went back to Martinelli's for dessert. We stayed there until after 10:30, then decided it was time to go. I took everyone to my house, where they got to meet the dogs Handsome Dan and Bella, and the parrots Popeye & Lily.
We surely did wish our group had been more complete!
I love Lily. I want a cockatoo!
Well I had a good time. But I wish that we could have seen the show. Halie, we saw you picture in the windowed waiting area. I like you yellow skirt and peach blouse! How was the show? Did you guys have fun performing? Was Friday the last show? See you all at school!
Mrs. Mammen, I love all your birds, dogs, and cats! My dad wanted to know how much one of your birds costs? They looked reeeeeaaaaaaaallllllly beautiful.
Today (Sunday) was the last show. Sorry I couldn't make it. I found out about the shindig right as soon as I got back (9:30 pm), and then debated whether or not to walk to Mrs. Mammen's house to see if I could catch you guys, but it didn't seem as if you were there. Now, though, I'm just thankful the show is over and can get back to the monotonous life of school.
Tionna to answer all of your questions the show was amazing and so much fun! By far i can say it was the best show ive been in! I'm so sad its over :( and that schools gonna start but that means i'll see all you guys so that makes it better!
Halie's dad generously offered me an extra ticket to the Sunday matinee, so I was lucky enough to attend the final show! It was fabulous. Halie was the best one, of course. Even though there were two saxaphone players, I made sure to pay special attention to Max's playing. He was the best, too.
The really big parrots cost around $2,000 each. Their cages cost about $1,000. The smaller birds cast less, and their cages run from $400-$700. Most of the birds were "drop-offs," but I had to purchase all of their cages. No one EVER drops off a parrot in a decent cage. We purchase pelleted bird chow 80 pounds at a time, so that is pretty expensive. I also feed them whole grain toast, fresh fruits and veggies, and whole nuts in the shell EVERY DAY. My grocery bill is astonishing.
The pet world is grossly overpopulated--I would never, EVER allow any of my animals to give birth, if it is at all within my ability to get prevent it. If you want a parrot, please adopt one already needing a home--do not go out and buy a new one! Parrots have become so popular that they are joining the sad ranks of abandoned, neglelcted, and abused cats, dogs, rabbits, etc.
