I hope everyone has had equal parts of rest and recreation during these first two weeks of summer. Check in and tell us what has been happening with you so far.
Right now I am sitting in a podcasting class at Sout High, and I am going to be posting/linking the occasional podcast for your auditory enjoyment. Since I saw you last, I have traveled to Culver Military Academy in Indiana for my nephew's graduation. (Do you remember the prep school in "So Much Unfairness of Things" and Dead Poets Society? Culver is like that, but with military uniforms. Wow!!) We also went to Chicago for a couple of days, where I visited the Adler Planetariaum, the Art Institute, Marshall Filed's department store, the broadway show Jersey Boys, took an architectural river cruise, and dined at many fine restaurants. I have managed to read just one book so far, but I want you to know that I bought a fantastic new dictionary with the gift certificate you gave me. THANKS!We just have to figure out a time that everyone can add an inscription to it.
I got to see Halie the other evening at a River Festival meeting. I hope to see most of you at the River Festival this weekend!
I also saw Rachel yesterday at her great grandfather's funeral. I'm sorry, Rachel. Isn't it amazing that he had such an interesting and active 102 years?
I see that several of you have responded to my invitation to join the blog. NOW YOU HAVE TO ADD COMMENTS FOR ALL OF US TO READ!
I look forward to hearing from you soon on this blog. If you don't know how to add a comment, either email me or call me for help.
I hope everyone is having a great summer so far. I'm trying to keep busy by helping on the fine arts commitee for the Smoky Hill River Festival which is pretty exciting. Other than that I have been enjoying my summer by what other than, SLEEPING IN! I also have been recently informed that my audition for Grease was sucessful and I will be participating in the chorus for that starting on July 7. I hope you all are enjoying your summer, thats all for now!
Hey, everybody, life treatin' ya good? This is Max. I am also taking classes at South High: Comp. Aps. I, to be precise. It's depressing though, only staying up 'till 12:30 am and waking up at 9:00 am, only to be lost in the circular architecture that is South High. Also, my Dad's 20th high school reunion is this weekend, so his stress level is really high, especially since we lost a tree during the storm (and our fence).
I just miss you guys so much, it is so hard not to see you all everyday now..it brings tears to my eye.. well i am also taking computer apps 1 at south high, which is very exciting. NOT! haha, but it is good for you to get ahead i think! i will talk to you all soon! it was good to see you mrs. mammen at the river fest! and also your hubby!
Why hello fellow advanced english students! And Mrs. Mammen! This summer i have been babysitting and i also have been going to Ellis, Kansas which is where my dads side of the family lives. I'm not taking computer classes at South High, unlike all of you. But i have planned to start that one book that i need to read for Advanced English this coming year. I have seen Rachel, Carolyn, Mrs. Mammen, and Gabe. Sadly i haven't seen any of you others around. My brother was at his grandparents in Salina during all those bad storms. Their house got hit but they are all fine which is good.
I would like to congradulate Halie for making Grease! Good job girl!
I hope to be hearing from you all later on this summer. Bye!
Shelby, thanks for checking in! DId I know that you have a brother? Tell me about him. Thanks, also, for that shout-out to Halie for making the cast of Grease! Maybe we could all go see her together? Great work on getting busy with your summer reading. You might consider jotting down a few notes as your are reading, since it will be such a long time before you will be discussing and testing over the reading. You'll need a few memory-joggers.
Oh! Max i was confused i thought you meant you were actually in the cast! so i guess i'll be seeing you in the pit! I heard that we have a pretty great selection of musicians for that part and can't wait to see you there!
Hello everyone! Halie and I finally figured out how to add me to this blog! Well, what to say? I think I'm going to get a haircut sometime soon. IN about 12 days or so. Hmmm... I'm leaving for vacation on July the 10th to visit my Oma and Opa (grandma and grandpa) and coming back on the 19th. Well, I guess that's all I have to say for now. Ciao!
SueM is Sue Montoy, a business teacher at South High. She is the teacher for most of the technology college classes I'm taking this summer. One of my assignments was to invite her to my blog, so I did!
If any of you ever sees/calls/emails the classmates who are missing from this blog, then tell them to hurry up and get connected!
By the way--you do not have to keep adding to the questions I've posted. Any of you can begin a new post. Give it a try!
Well my brother is Colton Sanchez. He will be a 6th grader. Also, he will be attending Lakewood so you might have him in the future. I don't think he has my brains though. NOw i plan to take notes while reading! I hope it helps me.
Are you going to have my brother next year? Because I can tell you, he is a lot different than me in just about everything. Not the same exitement, just sit back, and multitask: drawing and paying attention.
Well i haven't been in Salina much this summer mostly beacause I've been in Colorado seeing my family (if you have a Facebook you can see pictures on my sister's, Rachael Gutierrez.) Also I'm planning on going to New Mexico later in the summer but i dont have a date. Well im planning on getting "They Cage The Animals At Night" to read over the summer. But for right now I'm just hanging out at home. Also i think it would be A LOT of fun to go to "Grease" and see Halie and Tenor Sax Man, Max.
This is soooooo exciting!!! I've never blogged before! Hi everyone. It's great to "speak" to you. Summer OK but I'd rather be with my favorite class, Mrs. Mammen's former 2nd hour Advanced English class (I loooove saying that!). I also am taking Computer Applications 1 [8-10]. Tionna :)

Carolyn--great to have you check in to the blog! Thanks for stopping by the Fine Arts tent to visit Derius and me. We loved all of the visits.
Who else from our class is taking summer school to "get ahead"? I think that's a GREAT idea! I personally am taking six get-ahead classes this summer.

Halie's in Grease? That's awesome! So am I! I won't be performing on stage, though, more of as a silouette in the background or something.

Hey, I was just wondering who SueM is?
Yeah, who is this "SueM"? I suppose it could be Kris...
then again, that's not likely.
You guys make me laugh!!!
