Asta levista, Lindsay! I realize that I am posting this the day you are leaving, but I thought that I would reply :). I leave for my late family vacation to Estes Park on July 31. Should be fun, I've never been. This is kind of discusting, but I had one wart on each of my thumbs [ugh!!!] and yesterday I went to the dermatologist (one who studies skin, is that right Mrs. Mammen?). Anyway, she put some stuff on them that makes a blister on them. Why? Because a wart is caused by a virus that your immune system just doesn't attack. So this nasty wart appears! The liquid stuff comes from a beetle in South America that is called a Blister Beetle (the lady tried to make a joke so she said it was beetlejuice [like the movie :D]). So now, I have two HUUUUGE blisters on my thumbs that are twice the size of my original wart. I know, really gross but I been urging to tell someone. Sorry. But if someone out there wants to be a dermatologist, now you know.

Thanks for all of the insider info, Tionna!

I used to have warts, too. I wonder if young people are more susceptible to them? Kudos on the "dermatologist" word breakdown AND on the blister beetle factoid.

BTW--when you typed "Asta lavista" you really wanted to type "Hasta la vista." I know you want ot be "in-the-know," so to speak. It's Spanish for "Later the vision!", which translates loosely to "See ya later!"

Thanks Mrs. Mammen for the Spanish "breakdown." I really do enjoy knowing that kind of random info!!!

I'm back! So Tionna, about the warts on your thumb, well my brother used to have warts on his thumbs and on his toe or something and on the internet my dad found out how to get rid of them with apple cider vinegar. I guess you just use a piece of a cotton ball and soak it in the apple cider vinegar and then you put it over the warty area and then put a bandaid over it. I don't know how fast the beetle juice stuff you have works, but the apple cider vinegar treatment takes only a few weeks. And you'll know when it's ready to come off when it's really black and you're able to easily peel it off.

I think you told me about that method. But I wasn't to snappy about sleeping with vinegar on my thumbs and then smelling the rest of the week. Good advice but reallllllllly gross! Anyway, I had to pop the blisters after a couple of days, I couldn't do anything because it felt like they were about to burst :). But I have to go in again for continual treatment although they are mostly gone. How was your vacation?

It was really great. I got to go to Canada and stuff too, and it was really cool!

Ewww-I just now checked in on your wart removal experience. I don't think I'd want to go around reeking of "eau de vinagre", myself.
