Happy Independence Day!

Take a moment and search your memory files for information you remember about the birth of our nation from our study of Johnny Tremain.

There--that's enough time!

I hope everyone has a SAFE and FUN-FILLED Fourth of July.  I probably won't do anything  special during the day, but I'm planning to be at the country club for dinner and fireworks in the evening. What about the rest of you? Check in and tell us how your holiday went.

Hugs and Sparklers ( too bad they're illegal in Salina!!)

Wellll... My holiday was a bust. I had to go out to the farm and load straw bales into a trailer. Then, load them into the shed. Move equipment from one field to another. Come home, shower, eat, then watch the fireworks from down the street. Usually, we go to Ellinwood to see my uncle Tony and his kids. Or we go to Springfield to see my dad's cousin. BUT... yesterday, my mom took all three of us girls to Abilene to the Seely Mansion and the LeBold Mansion :). Who knew there was so much history in such a little town. Only a couple more days of class left!!!

I went to the park and ate free food! But that's not the important part. At night, cockroaches tend to crawl out of strange places in my backyard, so I took my electric bug zapper and... ZAP!!! BAM! ZOOM! STRAIGHT TO THE MOON!

Ohhhhh myyyyyy gosh Max! Should you really be "zapping" bugs to the moon? What does your electric bug zapper look like? I didn't even know they made electric bug zappers :). But that sounds like fun!

Although, my sister Timarie, has me very busy today unlike yesterday. Today I have made 2 rhubarb pies and organized the recycling. Also, I have to fold clothes, do dishes, and do the kitty litter box. Then tonight, I have to go take care of our neighbor's dogs.

P.S. Last Monday, Timarie and I went swimming at the McPherson Pool (the one with the lazy river). And we both toasted to a crisp. I know I should've worn sunscreen though.

Speaking of tennis and electric bug zappers, mine happens to look like a tennis racket.

I had dinner at the SCC (not for free, though...) and hung out there for fireworks. I talked to Carolyn and Rachel, and I spied Allison, but she didn't see me.

I have been busy reading, reading, reading. I zipped through four books that EACH logged in at more than 600 pages. I also read another, much shorter book that is a collection of critical essays about the other books that I read!

I'm telling you--no one will be sorry if they follow my advice and read the Twilight series by Stephenie Meyer. Fabulous! I was checking our her website and discovered the that first book in the series is being made into a movie. Yum yum!
